Biography

My practice is rooted in the experiences of emerging Black adults, exploring their boldness, vulnerability, and deep consciousness. Using oil painting, mixed media, and installation, I examine the impacts of our identities, cultural memories, and human connections as emerging generations navigate a rapidly changing global landscape. Drawing from Yoruba culture, particularly the symbolism of masquerades, I often encountered growing up in Abeokuta. My work transforms the idea of the mask into a modern language of becoming. In my world, masks not only conceal but also reveal. They speak to the duality of our lives: what we display or hide and what is inherited or experienced. These masked forms become visual metaphors for transformation, survival, and the sacred messiness of emerging selfhood.
